An Initiative by Nova Scotia Islamic Community Center
(Kearney Lake Masjid)

During times of uncertainty, people have always come together to support one another. COVID-19 is a new test of our collective strength. As social distancing and self-quarantining become the new normal, we’re facing new economic challenges. Industries are seeing sales plummet, and workers are losing tips, wages or jobs because of canceled events, business and school closures. Children from low-wage families may not be getting breakfast or lunch when schools are closed.

To support this rapidly escalating need, Kearney Lake Masjid (NSICC) has created the COVID-19 FOOD DRIVE RESPONSE FUND. Our Fund supports all the communities struggling in the wake of the new virus, by supporting them through providing food and groceries.

NOTE: For donations, we ask everyone to come forward to unite in a greater way and help each other in our greater community. Please do not hesitate to DONATE

How does Kearney Lake Masjid (NSICC) help?

Kearney Lake Masjid steps up whenever our communities need us. We’re helping communities those who are in need and have no support. We have our own Food Bank and every month we provide food & grocery packages to around 30 families.

The process is straight forward:

      • Identify the individuals or families who are in need.
      • Gather their information such as the number of individuals in a family, location, etc.,
      • Next, NSICC will place an online order with Walmart or Superstore, etc.,
      • Once the order is confirmed, the family will be asked to go to the location, wait at the pickup location and the goods will be delivered to them in person.

Kearney Lake Masjid (NSICC) is committed to standing with our communities and supporting those impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. Together, we will overcome this pandemic by making sure the most vulnerable among us are protected.
