Islamic New Year Celebration
Proposal – New Year Muharram (August 23)
10 tables – 1-2 kids per table (family relations only). Each table will do a topic/event that occurred on the First of Muharram. The topics will be on a first come first serve basis. The groups will be setting up booths outside the masjid, and may be required to wear masks. The will be asked to create a poster that will hang in the main hall of the masjid so that people can see and learn about the importance the day has for the Muslim community. Each table will be asked to create some craft or diagram based on their topics.
Sister Farhat to send a list of topics and information. This will need to be validated by the Imam since this is religious.
Sister Lubana to create an outline of expectations for both volunteers and the groups.
Hope tree. Volunteers will create a giant tree made of coloured paper. Everyone will be encouraged to write their hope/wish for the new year on a leaf. This is to promote positive thoughts so that children and adults bring in the new Islamic year with some hope and good wishes. InshaAllah.
